After the recent Windows automatic update, there is a problem that L2TP/IPsec connection is not possible. (Error 789)
This is a problem with Windows Update itself, so installing a new update will solve the problem.

Open Windows Update in Settings and install the updates below.
In Windows 10: KB5010793
In Windows 11: KB5010795

This is a problem that occurs because the root certificate is not registered on some Windows PCs. Enrolling the root certificate yourself solved the problem.

  1. Click the link below to download the certificate to your PC.

  2. Double-click the downloaded certificate file (isrg.cer) to open the certificate information window. Here, click "Install Certificate".
  3. Select "Local Machine" and click Next.
  4. Select "Place all certificates in the following store" and click "Browse" to select "Trusted Root Certification Authorities". Click "Next".
  5. Click "Finish" to install the certificate.

  6. Try to connect to the VPN again.
  1. In case you entered the wrong VPN connection ID or password.
  2. If the expiration date of the VPN connection ID has passed.
  3. When connecting from two devices with the same ID at the same time.
  4. In case the VPN connection server is entered incorrectly in the VPN connection settings.

If you choose from several payment methods and pay, the period of use is automatically extended.

Do not worry. IPany does not ask for personal information, and payment is not automatically made even after the free trial period.

  1. Check if the device you are trying to access is connected to Internet. (LAN connection, WiFi connection, router connection and etc.)
  2. In case of no server found error(Error 800), it may be a problem with the router or Device's DNS server settings. Change the DNS server address of the router or device as 168.126.63.1 or 8.8.8.8. If did direct connection setting, check if the server address is entered correctly. If that doesn't solve the problem, read #4.
  3. Try to connect from other device under same Internet environment or connected to the same router. If you can't also connect from other device, it may be a firewall or router problem. In the case of router problem, you need to replace it or update the firmware. If it is not possible to change the firewall setting or change the router, you have to connect using OpenVPN method. You can check OpenVPN connection method of each device in Connection Method.
  4. If you cannot connect to some specific device only, in case of Windows PC, remove the connection setting(or connection program) and try connection setting again(or reinstall the connection program) with administrator privileges. Or, it may be due to firewall or anti-virus program installed i the device. Deactivate the firewall program or anti-virus program, and try to connect. If it doesn't still work well, there is problem with OS. You have to reinstall OS.
  1. Check if the device you are trying to access is connected to Internet. (LAN connection, WiFi connection, router connection and etc.)
  2. In case of Windows PC, you have to start OpenVPN GUI with administrator privileges.
  3. Check the connection log and check the contents below. You can check connection log method in Connection Method each device of IPany website.
  4. In case of no server found error(Cannot resolve host address), it may be problem with the DNS server setting of router or device. Change the DNS server address of router or device as 168.126.63.1 or 8.8.8.8.
  5. In case of unable to connect by server(UDP/TCP: connect to ipany... failed), It is due to the unconnected internet or bad connection status between user’s local internet and IPany line. If you are using router, turn it off for about 10 minutes and try again.
  6. In case of user’s unstable internet line(TLS Error: TLS key negotiation failed), It is due to the unconnected internet or bad connection status between user’s local internet and IPany line. If you are using router, turn it off for about 10 minutes and try again.
  7. If you cannot connect to some specific device only, in the case of Windows PC, remove the connection setting(or connection program), reboot and reinstall with administrator privileges. Or, it may be to firewall or anti-virus program installed on the device. Deactivate the firewall program or anti-virus program and try to connect. If it doesn't still work well, It is problem with OS. You have to reinstall OS.
  1. In the case of OpenVPN, if the program is not installed with administrator privileges in Windows PC, or if OpenVPN GUI is not run as administrator privileges, there may be problem such as internet unavailable or IP address unchangeable. After uninstalling the program and rebooting, reinstall the program with administrator privileges.
  2. This may be due to firewall or ant-ivirus program installed on your device. Deactivate the firewall program or anti-virus program and try to connect.
  1. If you open IPany website, you can find your IP address on bottom side of the website. You can check if the IP address is changed before and after VPN connection. If your IP address is not changed, check the details below.
  2. If you set up direct connection setting instead of using integrated connection program, check if "Send all traffic over VPN connection" or "Use default gateway on remote network" is activated. For more information, check Connection Method of IPany website.
  3. In the case of OpenVPN, if the program is not installed with administrator privileges in Windows PC, or if OpenVPN GUI is not run as administrator privileges, there may be problem such as internet unavailable or IP address unchangeable. After uninstalling the program and rebooting, reinstall the program with administrator privileges.

  1. If you sign in to IPany website with the account(email address) different from you used before, you won't see the VPN connection ID you created before.
  2. After the expiration date, if you do not extend for 6 months, your VPN connection ID will be automatically deleted.
If you have more than 30 expired VPN connection ID(s), you can’t create new ID anymore. Instead of creating, use your current ID after extension.
There is no limit to the number of VPN connection IDs you can create. However, if you have more than 10 expired IDs, you can’t create new ID anymore. If you use many VPN connection IDs, you can get lower discount.
Once created, the VPN connection ID cannot be deleted. Instead of deleting it, change your password and use it. ID will be automatically deleted 6 months after expiry.
You don't have to worry. IP address of VPN connection ID will remain for 30 days after expiration. Even if the expiration date has passed, you can use the IP you used after extending within 30 days.
The connection is automatically off at 12 midnight on the expiration date.

If error as shown in the picture occurs and cannot connect to StrongSwan, you can solve the problem in following way.

  1. Open StrongSwan, click the profile for 3 seconds and select the EDIT menu that appears.
  2. select "Select Automatically" of CA Certificate and press SAVE to save.

In case of Error 87 "The parameter is incorrect." when connect to Windows 10 IKEv2, It’s problem with Widows OS itself. It can be solved in following way.

  1. After typing "cmd" in search box, put the mouse over "Command Prompt" among the search results, and click right mouse button. Select "Run as administrator" from the menu.
  2. If Command Prompt window opens, enter the following commands in order and execute them. If finished, reboot the computer.
    netsh int ip reset
    netsh int ipv6 reset
    netsh winsock reset
  3. After rebooting, open the Device Manager. (Windows logo key + X and select "Device Manager(M)"
  4. Put mouse over each WAN Miniport (IKEv2, IP, IPv6) in "Network adapters" of Device Manager, click mouse right button and select "Uninstall device".
  5. If you select "Scan for hardware changes" in the "Action" menu on top of the Device Manager, the uninstalled device is reinstalled.
  6. Try to connect to the VPN again.

Error 809 is due to a problem with the Windows OS itself. This can be resolved by changing the registry in the following way.

  1. Type "regedit" on search bar next to Windows Start button and Select "Registry Editor" from the search results that appear and run it.
  2. Navigate to the path below in Registry Editor.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SYSTEM -> CurrentControlSet -> Services -> PolicyAgent
  3. Look for "AssumeUDPEncapsulationContextOnSendRule".
  4. If it is not there, select "Edit -> New -> DWORD (32-bit) Value" from the menu and create a new one with the name "AssumeUDPEncapsulationContextOnSendRule".
  5. Double-click "AssumeUDPEncapsulationContextOnSendRule" to open it and change "Value data" to 2.
  6. Close Registry Editor and reboot your computer.
  7. Try to connect to the VPN again.
